A Visit to a Garden

Tower Hill Botanical Gardens occupy approximately 132 acres in Boylston, MA. In existence for about 20 years, it is a beautiful, peaceful place where you can stroll along many woodland trails and garden paths. There is also a shop, a library and a cafe with wonderful food.

I had the pleasure of visiting there recently. Of course, I brought my new Nikon D40 along for the adventure!

This is a wonderful time of year to visit because the gardens are bursting with color. As you can see, I was really inspired by the beautiful flowers and the magical creatures living there. Pan looks like he has a secret, doesn’t he?

I am looking forward to returning in the fall to see how the gardens have changed their colors.

What gardens do you like to visit?

    Hi Karen,

One of my favorite gardens is Von Trappe Greenhouses in Waitsfield, Vermont. I love to go there when I visit a friend who lives near there. It is owned by one of the children of the von Trapp family. They run a beautiful garden center which sells lots of unusual annuals and perennials, which is always fun to visit. But the highlights are the beautiful gardens that surround the sales area. (See link:)http://www.vontrappgreenhouse.com/gardens.html

My favorite garden is at the south edge of the property. It has a semi-formal pathway design, but is stuffed full of unusual and interesting species and varieties of annuals and perennials, has a rough rock fountain that the bullfrogs like, pergolas, huge pots with greenhouse tropicals set in random spots, a live arch made from twisted (living) willow branches, and more. And the part that is awesomely stunning… The whole place is on top of a hill, surrounded by pasture land, with views of the surrounding mountains in almost every direction. I get a bit giddy when I am there, and don’t want to leave.

But that is far away from here, and I also love to walk out my door to my patio in the summer and read, sip tea or wine, do T’ai Chi, or just sit amongst my plethora of flowering pots. I like to visit Tower Hill, too! Thanks for sharing your photos (which are really nice, by the way).

    Karen,

These photos are wonderful. Pan does look a little mischevious. I don’t remember seeing him at Tower Hill. I’ll have to look for him on my next visit. It is a great place to spend the day.

Hi Jen, Thanks for sharing your favorite garden link and description! The photos of the gardens and surrounding mountains are beautiful. I’ve never been to Vermont before but will definitely put that on my list of places to visit. I love the mountains as much as I love the sea. And I know from personal experience how very lovely your garden is. What a great place to do Tai Chi!
Hi Amy, Thanks for your kind comments about my photos. I am really enjoying my new camera! Pan is located along the woodland path in a clearing. Maybe he was out making mischief the last time you were there. 🙂
