While visiting my parents last year, my Mom gave me some skeins of Blue Sky organic cotton yarn in pumpkin (#622) and fern (#620) along with a pattern for making a pumpkin hat for my granddaughter. So cute! Yet, at the time, I thought it was perhaps a little too advanced for my knitting skills. Well, as you can see from the photo above – SUCCESS! Just in time for her to wear this fall.
This yarn has a beautiful feel to it and comes in a wide range of yummy colors like honeydew, flamingo and circus peanut.
If you are interested in knitting a pumpkin hat for a special little one in your life, I found a free online pattern here. Or, you can purchase the original pattern I made here.

How adorable! I want one! 😀 😀
It must be in the air. I ordered/downloaded at epatterns (I think that’s the name of the place) several halloween crochet patterns — afghan, kitty with a pumpkin, bear dress as a pumpkin. Too cute! Now I have to order the yarn.
Love the Gibran quote.
awwwwwwwwww!!!!
I love it, Karen. Your knitting is beautiful. I’m sure you’re granddaughter is going to look adorable in it.

Adorable!!!!
This is totally cute. I could see it being a cool party hat for young people who are a little older than that, too. Even teens or twenty-somethings. And I’m older than that but I’d consider wearing it. The colors would go with my complexion. –Spirituality of Tea
Thanks everyone, I totally looooved making this hat and am now looking at the pattern saying hmmmmm, how can I adapt it to another fruit or vegetable?!!
You’re absolutely right, Jason – why should little ones have all the fun of wearing a hat that looks like a veggie or fruit? Haha It would be fun to wear, especially to a Halloween party. 😉
I love that hat — do you know the pattern name of the one you made — it is so much nicer than the others you pointed to. Especially love the leaves at the bottom and the realistic bumps of the pumpkin! thanks, nt
Karen, I really appreciate the links to the free patterns, but I want to order the pattern for the one you made. Of course, I’m willing to pay. You see, I have this adorable great niece who was named after me……….
This is darling!
Thanks ladies! I’ll e-mail anyone privately regarding the original pattern. Just let me know.
That is just too cute! Take lots of pictures of her in it.
I would love the pattern for this pumpkin hat. thanks
